Crowdsourced 3D Printed Sculpture

Be A Part Of The Next Crowdsourced 3D Printed Sculpture

Neil Zeller, 2013

RRW is proud to announce the unveiling of one of the world's largest crowdsourced, 3D printed sculpture, "Linked". In partnership with  PrintToPeer (out of Calgary) and 3D Hubs the sculpture is now on display at the Stanley A. Milner Library. This truly global project brought together over 1600 pieces printed from over 15 different countries. The sculpture will be on display at the library until early February when it moves to Startup Edmonton.

The finished sculpture on display

Although the sculpture is on display we can still use more links to fill up some of the walls. Follow the process below and get your links sent in ASAP to contribute to the project.

How to contribute:

1) Visit the PrintToPeer website and sign up here to get the link file

2) Personalize your link.

  • You can either upload a photo that will automatically integrate into your link, or, download a blank link to edit yourself in any CAD software. We suggest using FreeCAD, Blender, or Google Sketchup (with STL plugin).

3) Download and 3D Print

  • If you OWN a printer you can print as many of these as you want. We would also encourage you to help print for others wanting to contribute.
  • Edmonton students can contact Colin Pischke at colin@reprapwarehouse.com to arrange to get a $15 print credit through the Edmonton 3D Hubs network. This will cover the cost of printing an average link.

    4) Ship your finished links to:

    RepRap Warehouse
    11617 147 Street NW
    Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
    T5M 1W3

    5) Help us print the last pieces and assemble "Linked" on December 17th at the Stanley A. Milner Library. Visit this link for more event info.

Printing Party & Sculpture Assembly - RSVP

We will be hosting an event at the Stanley A. Milner Library to bring the local community together. At this event we want to help anyone who hasn't already printed a piece to do so, and also assemble the final Sculpture. We encourage everyone who owns a 3D printer to bring it to this event. We will need as many people as possible to help connect the more than 2000 pieces needed to complete the Sculpture.
