Want tougher everyday PETG for brackets, clips, and outdoor bits? Bambu PETG Basic is Bambu’s upgraded PETG for parts that need strength and impact toughness without jumping to a specialty filament.
On Bambu’s official comparison, PETG Basic’s bending strength sits close to PLA Basic, while impact toughness is higher. It also holds up better outdoors against water, UV, and heat than basic PLA. Tuned for less stringing and a cleaner surface. AMS-ready, with refill and with-spool options.
Why makers pick it
- Strong and tough for everyday functional parts (see Bambu’s PETG Basic vs PLA Basic comparison on the official store)
- Good choice for outdoor and everyday functional parts
- Less stringing and smoother surfaces when kept dry
- Official store notes low indoor emissions (UL GREENGUARD / 2904). Details are on the Bambu product page, not in the TDS
- Works with all Bambu printers and the full AMS family (AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, AMS Lite)
Good for
- Holders, wall hooks, brackets, and clips
- Garden labels and outdoor accessories
- Bathroom and wet-area tools (not food-contact)
- Structural household parts that need toughness
What’s in each option
- 1.75 mm Bambu PETG Basic, 1 kg net filament
- With Spool: filament on a Bambu spool (ABS spool, about 200 mm × 67 mm)
- Refill: filament only. Needs a Bambu reusable spool (see Bambu wiki refill guide)
- 13 colours: Black, White, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Pine Green, Grey, Navy Blue, Reflex Blue, Misty Blue, Dark Brown, Dark Beige
Recommended settings (official TDS)
- Nozzle: 230–260°C (specimen tests used 255°C)
- Bed: 65–75°C (specimen tests used 70°C)
- Cooling fan: 0–60%
- Speed: under 200 mm/s (specimen tests used 150 mm/s)
- Nozzles: 0.2 / 0.4 / 0.6 / 0.8 mm OK
- Build plates: Cool Plate Supertack, Textured PEI, or Smooth PEI
- Glue stick / liquid glue recommended
- Dry before printing if the roll sat open (oven 65°C for 8 h, or heat bed 80°C for 12 h, or AMS 2 Pro / AMS HT 65°C for 8 h)
PETG sticks hard to PEI. Let the plate cool before you remove the print so you do not scar the first layer.
Useful specs (official TDS)
- Diameter: 1.75 mm
- Density: 1.25 g/cm³
- Bending strength (X-Y): about 75 MPa
- Impact strength (X-Y): about 34.2 kJ/m²
- Heat deflection (0.45 MPa): about 71°C
Not food-contact grade. Keep dry in a sealed bag with desiccant when you are not printing.
What this is not
- Not PETG HF (high-flow / speed-focused sibling)
- Not carbon-fiber PETG (use PETG-CF / PET-CF when you need abrasive-filled stiffness)
