Need PLA that can take a hit? Bambu PLA Tough+ prints as easily as regular PLA, but it handles bumps, drops, and repeated bending that would crack standard PLA. In Bambu's tests it has about 3 times the impact strength of Bambu PLA Basic and nearly twice the layer strength.
What's Included
- 1 kg of Bambu PLA Tough+, 1.75 mm, on a reusable Bambu spool
- RFID tag, so a Bambu AMS loads the right print settings for you
- Spool size: 200 mm across and 67 mm wide, made of ABS rated to 70°C
Print Settings
- Nozzle: 220-250°C
- Bed: 35-65°C on Textured PEI, Smooth PEI, or Cool Plate SuperTack
- Glue: glue stick or liquid glue recommended
- Cooling fan: on
- Speed: under 300 mm/s
- Chamber: 25-45°C
- Retraction: 0.6-1.0 mm at 20-40 mm/s
- Nozzle size: 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, or 0.8 mm, any nozzle material
- Drying: 55°C for 8 hours in a drying oven, AMS 2 Pro, or AMS HT
- AMS: works with AMS, AMS 2 Pro, AMS HT, and AMS lite
- Support interface: Bambu Support for PLA or Bambu Support for PLA/PETG
Material
- PLA (polylactic acid) made for toughness
- Diameter: 1.75 mm ± 0.03 mm
- Impact strength (X-Y): 80.6 kJ/m², compared with 26.6 for Bambu PLA Basic and 39.3 for Bambu ABS
- Layer strength (Z impact): 25.9 kJ/m², compared with 13.8 for Bambu PLA Basic
- Bending strength: 65 MPa. Bending modulus: 2,140 MPa
- Heat deflection: 61°C at 0.45 MPa
- Density: 1.21 g/cm³
Good To Know
- Layers bond so well that plain supports are hard to pull off. Use Bambu Support for PLA as the interface layer for clean, easy removal.
- It prints hotter than regular PLA, so it has a slightly stronger smell while melting. The smell is mild, not harsh. Print in a room with good airflow.
- It is a little less stiff than PLA Basic. That small bit of give lets parts bend and spring back instead of snapping.
- It still softens near 60°C, like other PLA. Keep parts out of hot cars and away from heaters.
- Keep the spool sealed with desiccant below 20% humidity, and dry an opened spool before a big print.
- Not food safe. Do not use prints for food or drinks.
Good For
- RC cars and model planes
- Clips, springs, snap fits, and connectors that bend over and over
- Durable tools, jigs, and handles that get dropped
- Sports gear and guards, like pickleball paddles and knee guards
- Print-in-place parts with hinges or flex, like folding hangers
