Need UV-stable outdoor parts with more heat hold than PLA or PETG? Prusament ASA is Prusa Research in-house ASA for durable prints that shrug off sun better than ABS, with less harsh fumes and less warp than classic ABS when you give it a warm chamber.
What's Included
- 1 × spool of Prusament ASA Galaxy Black, 850 g net, 1.75 mm
- Manufactured and tested by Prusa Research (Prusament)
- Spool parameters available to inspect at prusament.com where listed
Print Settings
- Nozzle: about 260 ± 5°C (Prusament.com ASA; Prusa Help also lists 260°C)
- Bed: about 110 ± 5°C (Prusament.com; Prusa Help often uses 105°C first layer, then 110°C)
- Enclosure or draft shield recommended to cut warp on larger parts
- Ventilate the room. Do not blow a cold draft across the print
- Dry if the spool sat open: ASA prints cleaner when dry
Material
- Prusament ASA (acrylonitrile styrene acrylate)
- 1.75 mm diameter with Prusament manufacturing control
- 850 g net on this Galaxy Black listing
- UV stable versus typical ABS for long outdoor use
- Heat hold near about 93°C before soft deformation (Prusa published figure)
Good To Know
- Prefer a satin spring steel sheet. On some smooth or powder-coated sheets adhesion can be too strong
- Clean the sheet, then use a glue stick when Prusa recommends it for your sheet type
- Large parts can still warp. Use an enclosure or a tall skirt / draft shield
- Store sealed with desiccant between jobs
Good For
- Outdoor brackets, housings, and garden hardware
- Automotive-adjacent trim and sun-exposed covers (always test fit and heat)
- Functional parts that need more heat hold than PETG
- Enclosed Prusa and other 1.75 mm FDM printers ready for ASA
